FAQs

Got questions? We’ve got answers! Learn more about the Wednesday After School Program.

  • Will students have time to eat before their lesson?

Yes! Students will have time to eat their lunch upon arrival at Crabbe Mountain. However, they are not permitted to eat on the bus, and some may not have time to eat at school while waiting for pickup. Snacks from the cafeteria can be purchased after instruction, but options may be limited due to time constraints.

  • What clothing and equipment do students need to participate?

Students must have their own ski pants, warm jacket, insulated ski gloves, a hat, and dry, warm socks. Ski goggles are recommended but not required. If students wish to bring their own ski or snowboard equipment, they can take it on the Trius bus. However, parents should check with the school to confirm if gear can be brought to school. Please note that skis and snowboards are not permitted on Anglophone West District school buses in the morning.

  • What is the policy if someone other than a parent is picking up a student?

If a student is being picked up by someone other than a parent or guardian, a written note must be provided to both the school principal and Crabbe Mountain staff. Without this written permission, all students are required to return on the bus for safety reasons.

  • What happens if school is canceled or weather conditions are unsafe?

If a student’s regular school is canceled, or if poor weather could affect driving conditions for the return trip, the Wednesday After School Program will be postponed. The school will be notified in the morning of any cancellations. Any missed days due to storms will be rescheduled later in the season.

  • Can parents volunteer to help before the bus arrives?

Yes! We are looking for parent volunteers to wait with students until the bus arrives at select schools. Since instructors may not be available at every location, volunteers would supervise children for approximately 30-35 minutes each week. Volunteers will need to meet students at dismissal, gather them in a designated area, and wait until the bus arrives. If you're interested in helping, please contact the Snow School.
