Crabbe Mountain Freestyle Ski Club
CRABBE MOUNTAIN FREESTYLE SKI CLUB
The Crabbe Mountain Freestyle Ski Club is administered by Ski Crabbe Mountain Ltd., focusing on long term athlete and coach development, fun, safety and proper progression for all levels of recreation and competitive freestyle athletes. Athletes are divided into groups based on age and ability. The CMFSC is affiliated with the New Brunswick Freestyle Ski Association and the national governing body, the Canadian Freestyle Ski Association. Participants in the CMFSC will be members of the CFSA, with access to all of its coaching and competition programs. CMFSC programs will be led by certified CFSA coaches, providing freestyle skill development not available from CSIA ski instructors. Parents are encouraged to get involved with the fun as volunteers with various on and off snow activities.
BUMPS AND JUMPS
Introduction to Freestyle (6 -12)
The CMFSC Bumps and Jumps program is designed to introduce young skiers to all aspects of freestyle skiing. This program has a strong emphasis on having fun and learning in a positive environment. With coaching from CFSA certified coaches and instruction from CSIA instructors, athletes will learn skills ranging from basic terrain park use and safety, glade skiing, moguls, parallel carving and switch skiing. Athletes will be encouraged to participate in a competition fun day where there will be prizes and fun freestyle oriented events. Potential Jibs and Kids skiers need to be able to load the chair independently and ski blue runs comfortably in a parallel skiing stance.
Freestyle Skill Advancement and Competitive Intro
The CMFSC Development Program is designed for athletes who have a strong interest in progressing their freestyle skills, with an eye on future competitive endeavors, or just simply skiing the park and the rest of the mountain. Athletes should already have strongly developed skiing fundamentals and an ambition to learn new progression. This program aims to teach general freestyle skills such as slopestyle skiing, moguls, glade skiing but with a focus on more advance techniques. Development Program athletes will have the opportunity to sign up with additional cost for dry-land/trampoline training, two on snow training camps, and summer water ramp training. By no means mandatory, athletes will be encouraged to compete in local freestyle competitions.
Competition fees not included in cost.
