A multi-city film tour showcasing a stunning big mountain snowboarding documentary hopes to help shape a world in which global warming won't spell the end of snow-focused recreation.

The Rec Earth Film Tour of four Eastern Canadian cities (including Fredericton) kicks off in Ottawa on Friday, January 11, 2008 at 7:30 p.m. at The Bronson Centre with the screening of LINES, an Absinthe Films production presented by Billabong.

A film showing the dedication and nerve that goes into the under-represented pursuit of big mountain snowboarding, LINES provides an inside look at the characters, history, dangers and logistics of big mountain riding.

After introducing LINES to what is hoped to be hundreds of people in Ottawa with an interest in big mountain snowboarding – and an interest in protecting the planet – The Rec Earth Film Tour will continue across eastern Canada, making stops in Halifax and Fredericton before finishing the tour in Barrie.

Teaming up with Billabong Canada, N'East Magazine and POW (the Protect Our Winters organization), the Rec Earth Film Tour hopes to not only bring attention to our growing climate crisis but also present available alternatives to help slow down global warming.

A portion of each $10 dollar ticket sold will be donated to Protect Our Winters (www.protectourwinters.org), a rapidly growing non-profit organization started by professional snowboarding legend Jeremy Jones. Donations to Protect Our Winters from the film tour will be directed towards educational programs and renewable energy projects, such as community wind and solar projects (including www.SkiGreen.org).

The Rec Earth Film Tour is a presentation of Recreational Earth, an Ottawa-based enterprise focused on enjoying the great outdoors. The motto of Recreational Earth is Motivate • Instruct • Promote. Its web site is www.recearth.ca.
