Patchwork

The weather has been kind of gloomy as of late.  I put this video together on Monday to try and cheer you up.  I hiked around the mountain with Alex in search of the last remaining skiable patches.  Enjoy.

That’s a Wrap

#105 marks the last chair of the season.  Thanks to everyone who made the effort to come out this winter through all kinds of weather that we endured.  There is a great culture that surrounds this mountain and we have all of you to thank for that.  We may have closed earlier than normal this year, but the good news is...251 days until December!  See you next season.

Think Snow!

Dummy Race 2012

Today's Dummy Race was a lot of fun for everyone from those who were shoving the dummy's down the runway, to the spectators.  This year's winning dummy belongs to Richard Willis, good job!  It is never too early to early to start building your dummies for next year!

Weekend Updates

Plan of attack for this weekend - Groomers will be hard at work tonight pushing out snow from the Terrain Park along Dave's Dream and up top, making the best out of what we have to work with. Hopefully we will get good converage and grooming on the Beginner Hill, Dave's Dream, Upper Dave's. Greg's Way, Hume's Flume, King's Horn, all of Elgee's, and the upper parts of Norm's and Tippy. Our main focus is getting the trails in good shape, and it doesn't look like we will have any park features set up. As a reminder, tomorrow is costume day, the Dummy Race, and Crabber's Bash with The Gunner Boy's playing live in the Thirsty Boot from 9pm-1am! Come on out and celebrate the 2011/2012 season.

CMRC Memorial Race Cancelled

We are sorry to announce that this year's Memorial Race that was scheduled for this Sunday, has been cancelled due to lack of, and extreme softness of snow.  Thank you to everyone who has been planning the event as well as those who intended to participate.  We encourage everyone to still come on out this weekend and honour the memories of Jane Nason, Dax Brown, Stephen Peppin & Mark Lawrence.  All were active members of the Crabbe Mountain Race Club.

Think Spring Skiing/Riding!

Closing Date Changed

Due to record high daytime and more importantly night time tempertures, Sunday March 25th will be our last day of the season. Tonight will be the last night of night skiing. Starting tomorrow through Sunday our hours of operations will be 9am - 5pm. Lift tickets will be $30, Rentals will be $20. Snow School Programs will be running this weekend, Dummy Race is on Saturday. We're still in the process of sorting out the rest of our calendar of events. Please understand this is not a decision we wanted to make, but mother nature has made for us.

YouTube Snow

As you know by now we decided not to open today.  We've still got wall to wall snow on the Loop, (Beginner Hill & Dave's Dream), but with terrible road conditions, damp weather, poor grooming conditions we decided to shut it down for the day.  Look for us to reopen again tomorrow.  In the meantime, check out this sexy new feature on YouTube where you can make it snow on videos you are watching.  You can even move your mouse around and it will blow the snow around.  A little entertainment value for when you watch "Winter is HERE????" on this damp day.

Think Snow and COLD Temps!

Thanks Mother Nature

This is what accumulated this morning, mother nature decided to give us a hand with the snowmaking.  Plan of attack: The Snow has died down, an easy 10 cms. Snowmakers are saying almost 15cms at the Summit. The temps are starting to drop. We now need the sky to clear up ASAP, so the humidity will drop with it. Our Snowmakers have 14 guns setup on the Beginner Hill. This will be the most guns we've ever used on the Beginner Hill at one time. The rest of our guns setup and ready to go on Daves Dream. They are itchin' to get fired up. Looks like we are going to make snow tonight and shut down tomorrow when the temps/humidity come back up. We'll start the build for Roast Beef and Rails tomorrow evening. All guns will be moved down onto Daves Dream to fire up as soon as temps go back down. Wish us luck!

Wintery Storm!!!

For anyone who is depressed about the r**n in town, rest assured we had a switch-over to snow early this morning and it has been building fast!  Hopefully mother nature keeps cooperating temperature wise so we can go ahead with our plans to fire up snowmaking later today.  Come on up this Saturday and Sunday for the Season Opener!

Opening Weekend This Saturday and Sunday

It is Almost here, 3 days to go until opening weekend here at Crabbe.  The plan is to have to entire beginner hill open with a great rail park set up and the lift running.  Roast Beef and Rails is slated to go from noon until 4, with a roast beef dinner to follow.  If rails aren't your thing, but beef is, for $10 you can get a lift ticket and dinner, Roast beef and Rails is $10, lift ticket only is $7, and rentals are only $7.  Ski lessons will be available if you are wanting to get out to learn, or refresh.  Come on out this Saturday and Sunday for opening weekend.  See you on the mountain!

Lots of Snow

Despite the weather, we still have lots of snow here at Crabbe.  The weather is looking promising for snowmaking towards the end of the week, and it is looking like we will get some of the natural stuff to go with it.  We are still planning on opening the beginner hill this weekend with the lift.  Roast Beef and Rails is still a go for $10.  If you want to just come and ski it is only $7 for a lift ticket, and $10 if you want roast beef afterwards.  Think Snow and Cold weather, and we will see you on the hill this Saturday and Sunday!

Mug Club!

5 Days left until the 2011/2012 season starts here at Crabbe Mountain!  Get your gear out of storage if you haven't already, dust it off and get here for this coming Saturday Dec. 10th.  This will be the first day to purchase your Mug Club membership, get here early because people will be lined up at 9am, they are a hot ticket.  Think snow and cold weather!

Snowmaking On Hold

I'm sad to announce that we have shut down snowmaking operations. Last night didn't get as cold as forecasted and the humidity stayed way up with the snow we received. Tonight's forecast doesn't look as good as it did yesterday. As soon as we get another window we'll be firing up ASAP.  Think Snow and Think COLD temps!

Snow Making Has BEGUN!

Crabbe Mountain's 2011/2012 snow making season has officially started!  It is a wintery storm on the beginners hill and Daves Dream.  As long as we keep getting cold weather, we are full steam ahead.  Check out our webcam for real time conditions up here on the hill.  If you haven't seen our latest video of snowmaking start-up yet, check it our here.
